Buying or selling an EV? Battery certificates are becoming essential

The market for used electric cars has been booming since fuel prices started rising. According to recent figures from Traxio, sales of used electric cars in Belgium rose by a whopping 39% compared to last year. But anyone buying a used EV should look beyond just mileage and price.

The battery remains the most expensive and most important component of an electric car. That is why, starting in 2026, the battery’s “State of Health” (SOH) will be listed on the Car-Pass. This percentage indicates how much battery capacity remains and provides buyers with greater transparency and, above all, confidence.

A car with higher mileage but a healthy battery can therefore be a much better purchase than a car that has been plugged into fast chargers intensively for years.

At Eurocarplate, we’re seeing that more and more dealers and private sellers are seeking extra assurance when selling an electric vehicle. With an AVILOO battery diagnostic device, you as a dealer can easily and quickly test the State of Health of an electric vehicle yourself. This way, the buyer knows exactly what condition the battery is in, and the seller increases both the buyer’s confidence and the vehicle’s value.
